MARIAN + DOMINIQUE ENGAGEMENT

It was the first weekend of Fall when I met Marian and Dominique. A couple of days before their engagement session, a huge amount of rain was predicted to fall on the day of. These two were so determined to have their photos done so no matter, we were on a Go! We planned the shoot rain or shine.

On the day of their engagement, we were surprised that there was no rain. We hoped that it will continue that way, and it did! On our way to the Jefferson Memorial, we saw signs of road closing due to flood, the Tidal Basin was overflowing. We looked at each other for a second, but then again, nothing can stop us now. We hopped, and tiptoed on some small dry rocks and grassy area. We crossed some chains off the regular path to stay away from getting wet. After a few minutes of acrobatic moves and laughters, we made it through!

Love will find its way, and that is exactly what happened to Marian and Dominique. Both are from Atlanta, GA but didn’t bump into each  other until they moved to DC.

“Dominique is not just my partner, she really is my best friend. I proposed to Dominique on New Year’s Day over brunch in a restaurant overlooking all of Atlanta. All of our closest friends traveled to Atlanta for the special occasion. Because this was the first time many of our friends were meeting, each person stated how they knew us, as well as a fun fact about themselves. After everyone introduced themselves, I turned to Dominique and asked her to marry me!”

“Together, we find balance and introduce each other to new experiences and aspects of life. Dominique has a sincere love for travel and has opened my eyes to several travel and unique experiences. With her, I feel more open minded and imaginative.”

A few days prior the engagement, Dominique contacted me directly without Marian’s knowledge. She wanted to surprise her with an engagement ring. She thought it was the perfect timing. And so we planned it.

In the middle of the photo session, I gave the signal to Dominique that it was time for the ring! I distanced myself while taking pictures to give them some privacy. A few minutes later, the happy tears came out. It was a beautiful moment.

After the Jefferson Memorial, we strolled around the row houses in DC and we ended up at Union Station.
